Malaysia

Christmas in Malaysia

At this point, I have been feeling very citied-out and wasn’t really looking forward to visiting yet another large city. We ended up booking an Airbnb in a suburb south of Kuala Lumpur and close to the airport and thought we might just hang out there and relax for the Christmas weekend, watching holiday movies. However, after much contemplation, we decided we couldn’t come here and NOT see the Petronas Towers which was why I wanted to come to Malaysia in the first place! So, we decked out in the coordinating outfits we had tailor-made in Vietnam and hit the town for Christmas Eve.

The Petronas Towers

The Petronas Towers house the offices of the Petronas oil company, among many other things. They were built in 1996 and held the title of the world’s tallest building until 2004. To this day, they are still the world tallest twin towers and are really quite impressive, especially when lit up at night!

A couple randoms…

I bought these out of curiosity and wish I would have bought about ten additional packs. They are so good!

Notice the lack of ‘4s’ on the elevator panel? Apparently, in Mandarin the word for 4 is very similar to the word for death, so the superstition is that Malaysians do not want to ‘invite death’ into their homes so they avoid the number 4. Quite like our superstition for the number 13.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!
